CIJ: Popcorn Balls

July 25, 2009

I love to make popcorn balls, though I have not made them in quite a few years they are so fun to make and best of all eat. And you can make a variety of flavors. When I would make them with my family as a child we would make popcorn in a popcorn maker. No we did not have the luxury of microwave popcorn. The best popcorn balls are always homemade. And to add chocolate chip pieces tasted even better. If you would like to make your very own is a good place to start. Another great place is FamilyTimeAnd When your all done and they are wrapped you can even decorate the little bags..

Confessions of a Chocoholic

May 13, 2009

I’m in no way a chocolate connoisseur , However I do love a good  chocolate fest, To me Chocolate is a food group in which I indulge in on a daily basis ; I ate so much Chocolate  when I was pregnant with my last child I seriously thought that she would come out chocolate coated. I have probably bought enough chocolate in the past few months that could reach to the moon and back perhaps I’m exaggerating just a bit but not by much. Chocolate is a great stress reliever with its ever so soothe creamy melt in your mouth goodness, There are several varieties of this delectable deliciousness from white to milk chocolate and dark variety and bittersweet, Do I have a preference no not really but Milk Chocolate is usually what I crave the most; How could I deny myself such a treat? There are several ways to indulge in Chocolate; There is the Chocolate bar , Chocolate milk
brownies, cookies the list is endless and at one time or another I have taken part in these forms .I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I have not had chocolate from any where than The United States, A true chocoholic perhaps should at least of had chocolate from another country to get the whole chocolate experience and treat their taste buds to a whole other level. The cons of chocolate is that it is sneaky once you eat a little you crave more until you realize that you just ate a whole Chocolate bar and have no recollection of eating that much.
My whole obsession with Chocolate has been passed down to my youngest I swear at times she knows when I open up the wrapper when she is not even in the same room as myself , She could be playing upstairs or watching her favorite cartoon and the moment I break off one piece she is there wanting her share of it. Is this good to indulge in so much chocolate perhaps not . There are benefits to eating Dark Chocolate to which I’ve read articles about that it helps lower blood pressure and contains antioxidants only in moderation. Moderation that is not in my vocabulary when it comes to divulging chocolate.Hi I’m…. and I’m a Chocoholic

Chocolate syrup was used to represent blood in the famous 45 second shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie, “Psycho” a scene which took 7 days to shoot.

Once upon a time, money did grow on trees. Cocoa beans were used as currency by the Mayan and Aztec civilizations over 1400 years ago. When they had too much money to spend, they brewed the excess into hot chocolate drinks.

The Swiss consume more chocolate per capita than any other nation on earth. That’s 22 pounds each compared to 11 pounds per person in the United States.

Rumor has it that Napoleon carried chocolate with him on all his military campaigns for a quick energy snack.

The word “chocolate” comes from the Aztec word “xocolatl”, which means “bitter water”.

The amount of caffeine in chocolate is lower than most people think. A 1.4 ounce piece of milk chocolate contains about the same amount of caffeine as a cup of decaffeinated coffee. There is an average of 6 mg. of caffeine in both an ounce of milk chocolate and a cup of decaffeinated coffee, while a cup of regular coffee contains between 65 and 150 mg. of caffeine.
Thanks for this list of fun facts Cocoajava

5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

May 9, 2009

Warning this can become very addicting!!!

1 Coffee Mug
4 tablespoons flour(that’s plain flour, not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
Small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well .
Add the egg, milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to share!)
